This photograph of a 1960s NVA soldier on guard duty arrived today.
Rather interestingly, his coat sports plain cuffs, a plain collar and lacks shoulder insignia.
Could this be the elusive Wachmantel?
It's possible that our man is simply wearing an up-to-date air force coat (hence the plain collar and lack of french cuffs), but that wouldn't explain the abscence of shoulder boards.
What say you, Genossen?
Regards,
Andro
