Somebody, after all, had to make a start. What we wrote and said is also believed by many others. They just don't dare express themselves as we did. Quote - Sophie Scholl - White Rose resistance group

                Amazing collection VPKA!

The stasi (or is that artillery) unteroffizier gesellschaft uniform is my favorite of the lot.

It's artillery and this uniform I got from the owner. Now I search a old artillery marksmanship badge - Schützenschnur. This was lost.

2016 saw my DDR collection grow quite a bit thanks to my trip to Germany and Nico. However, in 2017 I got bitten by the Soviet bug and devoted pretty much all of my budget to that.

I did do some thrift shopping on new years day and stumbled across an 80's pattern winter FDU jacket, In my size! So I now have the proper era of Jacket for my favorite (though unofficial) order of dress seen at the fall of the Berlin wall:

You mean the KGB badges? This are copies because this uniform was without awards. I got a naked uniform with visor hat. But the name of the owner I know.

                          VPKA,

Yes I was interested in the KGB badges. I have a DDR Generals police tunic that has holes in the location where the KGB badges on your uniform go. I have researched what badges would go there but the pictures I have don't show clearly what they would be. You can just tell me what badges you put there and I can get copies for my tunic.

                          Regards,

                          Gordon

Thanks for showing your treasures! Great to see 2017 was successful for many!

Being a member for some time now but never having introduced me to you, I´d like to make up for it here shortly and share some of my last years loot.
I´m a 36 years young collector living at the border to Westberlin. I started collecting german helmets of the world wars in 2007. Alongside I also started with East German helmets which became my main interest later.
In 2014 I decided to part with my pre ´45 collection to completely focus on DDR helmets and also to expand a little on other DDR militaria like cloth headgear, uniforms and related stuff, mainly pre ´61 police and 1960ies Grenztruppen.
2017 was a really good year for me and DavidH will be so kind to post picutres of some items that I enjoyed the most. Thanks David
Some of the items are from very kind forum members here, thanks again to all of you!

The year started with the HVGP officers jacket in the first days of January. I am really happy to display it with the cap that I got 6 months earlier.
Next are some shakos. Two from Berlin ´45-´47, then a factory white like you David and an rare "ear-cut" officers shako. The white one is not as flawless as yours David but I´m still really happy with it.
Then 3 buckles that I enjoyed very much. Two are 1942 Luftschutz buckles adapted for the VP Sachsen Anhalt and a former Luftwaffe buckle for saxon police.
I also began looking for early army caps and found some. The visor hat is dated I/56.
Collecting mainly helmets I also had to have this trumpet banner of the Lauter plant.
                            And of course some helmets...

top left: I/58, factory khaki/olive for DGP
bottom left: II 10 66, overpainted red and used like this in Potsdam/Eiche for an unknown purpose.
top middle: II 12 58, DVP with a star variant I was still missing.
bottom middle: M56/66 used by the Turkish Jandarma
top right: very light plastic West German movie prop
bottom right: II 02 70, "ST-61" stenciled on the front with neon red spray paint... has anyone an idea what it could be? I don´t think it´s german use but have absolutely no clue in the end.

and the little one of the MSR-17.

That´s it from me so far, please keep your 2017 entries coming

                            Regards
                            Stefan
