    2 different MDI cap markings

Here are two cap diamonds : left one from TRAPO and right one from VOPO.
It's interesting to notice how both caps are marked ! The different manufacturing codes 1856 and 1855 probably indicate the two caps were manufactured in different places, which would explains the two other differences : the date code "B" isd slightly different and the letter D is a capital one for the TRAPO cap and a small one for the VOPO one ! Also note the place the TGL code is located on both caps !!

... small arrangements were possible with the programmed 5yr Plan !! []

    Olivyaya,

Your posted photos not only show the variety of what should be similar cap markings but point out the differences in the "MdI" markings. You are quite right that one will see these Ministry of the Interior markings that read "MdI", "MDI" and "MdJ" in various police equipment. The MdI marking is gramatically correct as "of the" is not a noun but markings in all capital Roman letters will be found just as you show. One will also find the older Fraktur letter for I written as J in German markings. The "J" is simply an older form of the letter and will be found on WWI and WWII equipment (as well as earlier) and is often confused by English speakers as denoting something like Justiz instead of Innern as is the proper translation.

Just my two cents as I often see this MdJ marking incorrectly translated as the Justice Ministry instead of the Ministry of the Interior. I will now step off my soap box.
