    Dynamo Standard

Can anyone help with any photos or info on this type of flag in use, its one of my favourite items

Hello Rich Das Reich...The flag you are showing is from the Dresden DYNAMO sports organization. The DYNAMO sports organization has its roots going back to 1953 and was part of the Ministry for State Security (MfS) also known as STASI.

What I find interesting about your flag is the word "LAND". I have not seen that before on a DYNAMO flag. So I will be interested to read what others say about your flag...

I have posted a couple of other links about about the DYNAMO that you may find of interest.

      Thanks for the links Ralph.
I've been searching for photos of this type of flag in use since i aquired it in about 1994. if i remember correctly(i don't have any of my reference books to hand!) the DDR was split into 15 districts so i assume each district Dynamo organisation would have their own flag? However i've never seen any in photos, only a plain red flag with the Dynamo symbol in the centre and no fringe on the outside.
      Here's hoping

btw i also have these badges in my collection,

      Badges have the wording"Dzierzynski Sportler"
apologies for the small photo(can't seem to increase the size of the image).
Am i correct in believing the were issued to stasi only, or could they be for volkspolizei dynamo members also?

      regards,

Hey Rich...You are correct about how many districts there were in East Germany. And that each of the districts had their own DYNAMO organization, but can not confirm if they each had its own flag. An interesting thought...

About your badges, they are sports badges from the Dzierzynski organization which was part of STASI. BUT, you raise an interesting point if they were only given out to STASI members or also to the Volkspolizei, since both organizations in general worked very closely with each other. Would that also correspond to sports badges being awarded to the Volkspolizei members from the STASI.

I can't respond relevant the three badges referenced above, but I know in some instances, certain Sports Badges affiliated with the Stasi, were awarded to Qualified Polizei. Here for example, is one type of Sports Badge that was often awarded to qualified members of the Polizei. It has a Police Star on it, however, references affiliate the badge with the Stasi. So I'm assuming they controlled the production and subsequent issuance of this badge.

          Any thoughts?

Hey Mike...thanks for showing the badge in that it for sure makes the point that there were some badges presented amoungst the two organizations. So I too would like to read what other forum members say...
