Wow delta576, thank you very much for the pictures of your grandfather. I see he is wearing a very nice early uniform from the Kampfgruppen.

Do you know if he took part in the antifaschistische Schutzwall Bau?

There seems to be a very nice KG Banner on the second picture you showed us. Do you know from which KG-Zug or KG-Bataillon he served in?

Vielen Dank noch ein Mal für die Bilder!

I dont know, which unit he served at this time. Later he was commander of the 6.
independent platoon (look at the certificates). The pictures were made in front of the building of the VPKA Stralsund.

I echo Soviet's comments - Thank you for sharing these photographs of your Grandfather in what was surely a memorable even for him at the time they were taken. The pictures shed a different light on the Kampfgruppen. Certainly, in the early period of its existance, it appeared quite professional.

        All the best,

Perhaps you can answer some questions about him?

Which year did he join the Kampfgruppen? (and how old was he then?)

          Where did he live/work?

How long did he serve with them? ( and how old was he when he left?)

          What rank did he achieve?

Hope these questions aren't too personal. I am truly interested in this as it would answer a lot of questions I have about the Kampfgruppen (which is my main interest from the DDR actually). I have yet to meet any former members of the Kampfgruppen and have a chat with them, but I really would like to - sadly I guess it cannot be your grandfather

            Hello

I just received a big wax candle for the anniversary of 30 years
of the Kampfgruppen , Torsten has the same in his collection but that one is for the anniversary of 35 years of the Kampfgruppen .
Does anybody know if there are candles for other years ?

            Regards , Johan

if only I had paid some attention, when I saw them being used in real life ... ah well ... they were just nothing special at the time...just some of many different flags in use...Cheers, Torsten.
