    ppsh 41 DDR sling

    Hello guys,

I was wondering if there where ppsh 41 slings made for the DDR during the 50-60? The question is for a 1/6 scale modeling project, thanks in advance for your reply!

Possible, but I know the Soviet made ones only.

      Darwin M,

I once attributed this gray colored model with brown artificial leather to be of East German manufacture, but I'll be darned if I know where it is now. I forget what made me so sure it was East German and not another WARPAC country.

What say you fellow collectors? Would Darwin M be OK with the more commonly encountered olive drab model? Presumably, these would have been attached to the MPi-41 smgs issued to the DDR defense establishment.

I apologize for not being able to provide you with more definitive information.

      All the best,
      TJ

        Thanks TJ,

This info and photo helps! This is what i want to remake, the well know jump of DDR soldier Conrad schumann. Its very hard and difficult to see on the short movie and photo's which sling it is.

          Darwin M,

These c. 1957 KVP / Grepos appear to have leather slings on their MPi-41.

          All the best,
          TJ

The KVP Soldat on the right has a leather sling, the other appears to be olive drab. He may be carrying a rifle however, so I wouldn't call it definitive.

              Here is a nice shot of a Grenzer's MPi-41.

This sling looks grey; it's hard to tell.

More evidence of olive drab slings in use with the NVA.

I think this picture came from forum members Matteo's collection.

                Thanks,
                TJ
