I'd agree with Paul around that mark, they've not really got into the small differences of age etc and equating it to demand and value.....yet to any great degree, i.e sellers and dealers of these EG medals of the more common type, give it time, and as soon as books in English are available then I'm sure specific examples of the common types will be be sort after in the extensive range of EG medals. (I'm talking about the earlier issues to the later and last issues)
It effects already Border Guard, police etc etc medals
A nice little set these.

Regarding the Border Guard Treue Dienst medals and the selling price of $200.00 for the set - Could it be that as Marcus inferred, that this particular set encompassed ones that were very old? The older types do today, demand a higher price.
Also, another factor to consider when comparing the Border Guard medal with the NVA version - Their medals didnt come into production until very late 1977. This is because the Grenztruppen were NVA prior to 1974 and used the NVA Treue Dienst medals. So fewer of the type specific to the Grenztruppen were produced not because of the size of the organization, but because of the number of years the Grenztruppen Treue Dienst medals were in production.Michael D.
