Could this be SED or indeed STASI ?

I need your help on this one guy's, I think it could be STASI as there's one very similar in Klaus H. Feder's book on page 105 at the bottom, 3rd one along.

    Any thoughts please.

Hey Marcus and fellow members...first let me say this...I have not seen the pin as either an SED or STASI that is being posted, so the rest of the information I say is only a guess.

My first thought for of it being a STASI pin...it could be, because there are a lot more pins on the market that the STASI used that are not shown in the book. (background about what I know of the pins on page 105. Those pins were used more or less by the protective service detail to help identify each other. Something like when our US Secret Service have on their suit jackets.) What I see that is interesting of this pin is that the Soviet flag is front of the DDR flag, which makes me think that the Soviets may have worn it while conducting their protective detail on DDR terroritory. OR it may have been worn by DDR personal when conducting protection duties of Soviet personal.

Second thought...Not sure if it could be a SED...it just does not have that look like other SED pins on the market...

My last thought is that this pin could be a Friendship pin, but from the Soviet side since the Soviet flag is in front of the DDR flag.

I may not helped...but for sure will be good to read follow ups from other members...

I too think this is a "Friendship Pin", of which there were countless millions produced in all different types and variants. Although the Soviet Flag is prominent and in front of the DDR Flag, the wreath that encircles the two flags is very DDR in appearance, as is the pin itself. I think it is of DDR origin.
