identification needed of this leather pouch

    Greetings to all

I recently picked this pouch up from ebay in the believe that it was german ww2, or at least ww2.

Here's the link to a thread that's running in the ww2 german fielgear section at the moment.
    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ad.php?t=82858

We came to the conclusion that these are post-war, but I still have some questions:

    What was their exact purpose?

Is there a chance that these pouches were already used/made back during ww2?
Like so many fielgear-items the DDR (NVA) copied a lot (feldflasche, breadbags, Y-straps,etc...).

    Thanks in advance

    Kind regards

    Jan

    For a quick review...

Here's the ebay-pouch. Metal rivets, pebbled (ersatz?) leather.

And here are some pictures of the clearly post-war made/marked pouches that Willem was so kind to post.

          Cheers

              3. The outside looks less "pebbled"

                  Jan,

I have not seen this pouch before but they all seem the same to me. Since the marked ones have MdI (Ministry of the Interior) markings, they were utilized by the DDR Polizei. The stamps indicate the first one was made in the 4th quarter of 1960 (I can't read the other one) by maker code #1827. My best guess would be that the one you show with the red cross is East German as well. I hope this helps.

                    Hi George

It sure does, thanks for the confirmation.
                    I'll hereby rest my case.

The medic's pouch is 101% East German, I've seen several of these in a Berlin 'warehouse' full of similar East German wares.

Memeber uscob, Nico will confirm this for if needs be also.
