    Grenztruppen Boards with green slip-ons

What's the meaning behind the green slip-ons on these boards?

Hello. The green slip on loops indicate the position of "Postenfuhrer". When out on patrol, usually two Grenzers, one would be the patrol leader or Postenfuhrer. The Postenfuhrer was designated by the green, slip on loop on his shoulderboards. These green loops would be on both the subdued, field shoulderboards as well as the color shoulderboards like you have pictured. Postenfuhrers were usually either a soldat or gefreiter rank, although I have occasionally seen a junior NCO with the loops. Remember, Postenfuhrer was a position and not a rank. Hope this info helps!
