Early VOPO with MG-34

Genossen,

I thought this photo featuring 1950's era VOPO posing with MG-34 machine guns would be of interest.

Note use of spare barrel carriers and what appear to be Wehrmacht issue gunner's pouches.

I'm not really sure who the gray clad lads are; comments?

interesting photo! Is this during transition period? Several men in back row appear to wear the newer green uniforms, which were introduced 1954, if I remember correct?

I wonder if the photo was taken not in the DDR but in ether Poland or Czechoslovakia ??
