    Value of DDR Uniforms.

Could someone please give me a basic idea of what this stuff would sell for? I picked alot of it up in Berlin in the 1989 timeframe. I want to start clearing out some space, so I want to move it.

On the whole you are not going to get a lot of money, I am afraid. Much of that stuff is available readily. The size might be a factor as larger sizes are rarer and are in much greater demand in the USA (so I am told). The most valuable piece you have, in my opinion, are the boots because they the older leather soled version which are absolutely fabulous. You can check here some prices: www.gowenmilitaria.com. I can only tell you how much I have recently paid for similar items buying from Germany. Prices are obviously in Euros, everything approximate. You should also remember that prices in Germany tend to be lower than in the USA because this stuff is still plentiful.
            Black belt 10€
            Brown belt 15€
            Tunic with cord 25€
            trousers 6€
            summer bdu 14€
            winter bdu 20€
            Helmet 15€
The boots I got for 20€ a year ago but I would be prepared to spend a lot more as they are really good. They are also going to appeal to Wehrmacht reenactors. If the size is not too small (not any lower than 28= 9 US size) I would expect at least 50$ possibly more. Perhaps you can try to sell everything on Ebay but not as a job lot because you are bound to get less that way. I hope this helps.

              Willi,

The best way to establish a selling price for your East German "Gear" in my opinion, is to go on Ebay.

              a). Click on Collectibles
              b). Next click on Militaria
c). Then go to the "Search Bar" and type in one of the following to accomplish your search:

d). East German: This will pull up most of the East German related stuff for sale. Just brouse through the different items. You will eventually see most of the stuff you have, and will get an idea of prices.
e). DDR*: This will bring up anything that has this acronym in it. DDR was the German acronym for East Germany.
f). GDR*: NATO acronym for East Germany. Some items will have this acronym in their description. This search will find them.
g). NVA*: This is the acronym for Nationalevolks Armee (East German Army). NOTE: This is the least effective search, as it will bring up mostly North Vietnamese Army items. However, some people do list East German items on ebay using this acronym. It will find the very few that do.

The biggest problem I see (If you are looking to get a lot of money for your items) is that everything except for the boots is common. If you do opt to use ebay to sell your stuff, be sure to show the soles of your boots and emphasize that they are leather.

              Best of luck.

Thanks guys. I knew the stuff is not worth much, not really to try to squeeze every penny out of it. Can't really be bothered with messing with ebay. I have other stuff too.....more officers stuff, Stasi uniforms, etc. I just wanted a general idea so that I wouldn't price it too highly. I just want to use it for table filler at shows to free up some storage space. The rare stuff I let go a few years ago. So, if anyone needs any of the stuff, let me know.

                Thanks....Willi
