My first DDR militaria

I like to show the first DDR militaria I bought for my militaria collection. I think these are pretty common medals but I have to start somewhere. Within some time I will have some research books.

The first is Banner der Arbeit stufe III

Hey Volkbert...I want to add to what John and Mike have already said...you are starting off in the right direction with some good DDR items with photos no less.

By the way, do you know the time frame of when the DDR photos were taken?

Pickard: Unfortunately I do not know when the pictures were taken. I even do not know how I can find out by looking at the style of uniforms or something. The only point may be the cars which can be seen at some pictures. They seem to be from the seventies.

I can't of course see hardly any detail relevant the photos you posted, but I do recognize the architecture:

They were taken off Karl Marx Allee. This same street turns into 17 Juni Strasse on the other side of Brandenburg Tour (Gate); which is visible in one of the photos.

Also visible in the photos is the Neue Wache (Guard House) where the NVA Wachregiment, and then the Wachregiment Friedrich Engels performed guard detail. The barracks they used is adjacent the Neue Wache and can also be seen in some of the pics.

What I'm trying to say is, you've got yourself some very nice and worthwhile photographs there. Take care of them.

You have an excellent start on DDR awards! Be careful, they tend to multiply like rabbits! At least mine did! Seriously, you have a wonderful start on a DDR medal collection with some quality pieces.

Hey Volkbert...Thanks for the reply...if it is at all possible and if you get the the chance maybe you can post close ups of the photos so that fellow forum members can possible narrow down a timeframe of the photographs.
