At the inside photo you see 6 rusty parts under the liner band... there were the six welded studs where the 2nd model plastic liner was fixed!

      Same I think.

But I think too this man could clean the helmet a little or repaint it if like to sell it.
In this form I think not very much money can won.

They are small and round. Maybe not liner holes now that I look again closely. But they are too small to be proper factory-made vent holes. Look like drilled in his workshop.

I hope that you like the new look that has the helmet

Imitated ventholes! For sure they are drilled in his workshop!

                    What the hell is this?
The leather from a spanish liner?
You put an absolutely non matching 1,50 EUR leather into an 800,- EUR helmet?
No, I don´t like it at all!

If this helmet is truly an original, one of 50 between 5 million helmets, you shouldn´t disgrace it so pure!

Sorry for the hard words, but this is... blasphemy!

                        Heinkal :

You know what you are said???

I caught this liner from a Normandy m-42 camo relic helmet from my collection, I staied about two days clean all from oxide and dirt, the helmet was really bad.

I´m going to look for, perhaps I can have photographs from his first situation for you saw it.

Only what I do was sew with thread a white line to it to prevent leather broken for the iron band part.

Of course the chinstraps is original too but is a bit small for this helmet.

Hello all - This thread has for sure been informative to a lot members who have visited the DDR forum. I would now ask that the thread get back on track related to the B-II helmet.

                          Thanks...

                            Actually Ralph,

I too have been watching it and believe it has run its course. Even the B/II is of Wehrmacht origin and not DDR.

The thread originally was relevant the development of the DDR M-56 and to that degree, I don't know that there is anything more to say. I would venture it all has been covered.

Excuse me, if I´m wrong, but this liner didn´t look original to me. If you sew an extra line, this may explain the unmatching look.
The chinstrap isn´t original for me too! It is riveted, TR chinstraps always were sewed. This is not even a good repro.

However, I would not modify a relic like this, whether with original liner nore with an repro.

Would you repaint it in the next step?

Heinkal, sure the chinstraps is an earlier WWII german, this comes with one of my collection´s best helmet, an m35 with original paint in any case this was only a change for the picture I need to find another one more big.

About the comments of moderators respectfully this is my opinion.
I´m very new here as a user. I used in the past to read only without participate but I think that this is a good place to speak about B-II as this helmet seems to be the father of the vopo. And I think that all what people can say about this helmet (measures, discuss about its originis, number of that can be in the world actually, new appears in ebay originals or fakes) is interesting to the lovers of this helmet. Particularly for my this forum making this me learn very much.

I wait people continue giving his opinions in the matter.
