    SED Membership Card 1946

    Hello

    thought you would like to see this very early SED Memberschip Card from 06/1946..2 month after foundation of the Party actually its not even a DDR Item

        Always nice to see early documents like this. I think I do have a 1946 SED membership card somewhere within my document groupings ... just have to try and remember which one it is in .... Cheers, Torsten.

              A question on long SED membership duration, I have seen a relief plaque of Karl Marx for 70 years membership, surely this must be incorrect?

                no those were for the veteran of the KPD, as they considered there was a direct and logical filiation between SED and the KPD (as the SED= KPD + SPD).

                  Thanks for that! I found it odd as 70 years membership seems almost physically impossible

                  The plaque seems quite a small gift for such long membership, they can be purchased quite cheaply. I suppose the SED idealogy did not place much importance on monetary value of gifts.
