Hello all...I am posting two images to show one of my STASI black collar tunics from my collection, but I also have a question to the general forum members as too the date range of this particular tunic. There is no data information on the inside of the tunic. So my thought on the tunic's born on date is in the mid 1960s. However, I can use some assistance from the forum members to educate me as to how to narrow down the date range. Thanks in advance...

Hello Ralph,
No stampings at all? and nothing on the inside of the the interior pockets?
Things to look for then
1. Can we have a close up of the collar patch, to determine which pattern it is.
2. Is there zig-zag stitching on the reverse of the collar?
3. The jacket looks to have a greenish hue, is that correct?
4. Is the Jacket quite heavy compared to later jackets?
5. Are the back of the buttons a brass colour?
But do check the inside pockets again.

What I believe you have there is a private purchase NCO tunic dating to approximately 1962-66, nice example.
The collar patches are the pre-65 subdued variety, altough I must say they do appear to be more like artillery than stasi ( the earlier arty red was darker than on later collar patches ). All in all this is a very nice tunic, of a type that doesn't turn up that often It is a little difficult to tell from the picture, but the shoulder straps look correct for the period and look like stasi, did the come with the jacket?
