    My KVP items!

    Hello all!
Just wanted to show you the two KVP items in my collection!

I got the medal in the mail just 2 days ago! it´s numbered (019503) and in a great condition! What´s your opinion on it?
The beltbuckle with belt has been in my collection for a year or something.

    Feel free to comment!

My initial thoughts about the medal appears ok, however the five sided ribbon hanger appears to be a bit brighter. It might have been the flash that is causing the hanger to be brighter.

I hope others will respond to your medal and also correct me if I am off the mark.

        Thanks for your comments!
The green colour on the hanger is only slightly brighter than on the IM. The difference seems to be bigger on the picture, maybe because i took the photo in fluorescent light. Maybe the medal and IM wasn´t together from the beginning, or could they have been awarded like this?

        Any thoughts regarding the belt?

        Thanks!

          Wow, those are beauties.
More goodies to put on my SOMEDAY list.

The sad thing was I had a chance to get a bunch of KVP items many years ago, but had no clue what they were.

Just to mention...the belt/buckle has nothing to do with KVP! It was used by DVP/HVA/DGP until 1960/61. The KVP used blank/golden ones!

Can you show us some more pictures of the leather itself? Looks bit different as the belts I know.

The medal is a very nice one!

I agree with Ralph. The ribbon is normally darker. Apart from that it looks like a nice one!

              Cheers

Thanks a lot for all the feedback!
I´m really pleased with the medal, even though the colour of the ribbon makes me wonder a little bit. But since it doesen´t make the medal a fake, i can live with it!

To be honest, i didn´t know that! I´m new to early DDR-items overall, and it was sold to me as a KVP belt. But it doesen´t matter that much, it´s still a nice addition to the collection!
With the risk of sounding way to unknowing, HVA and DGP are abbreviations of...? Hauptverwaltung Aufklärung and Deutsche Grenspolizei?

I´ll take some photos of the belt aswell, stay tuned!

Hello Erik - The last couple of days I have been doing some research and thinking about your earlier post about the five sided ribbon hanger that may have been put on later.

In the late 1950s (by 1957) for a very short period of time another medal used the same type of five side ribbon. That medal was the five year faithful medal. Posted is a photo of the medal and five sided ribbon hanger as it was shown on the awarded document. Also, there is photos of the medal and document in my books.

So with that said, either your ribbon hanger is fake, which it does not appear not to be. The ribbon hanger was placed on the medal when it was produced or later as a replacement. Or the ribbon hanger was placed on the medal prior to the end of the KVP.

The only thing missing at this time that would assist us all is having the original award document so we would know the date your medal was presented.

I hope my post assists you and discussion.

Thanks for your research Ralph, really interesting!

I´ll add two pictures of the belt and buckle, as requested.
The belt itself seems to be homemade.

Thanks for the additional pictures! The buckle is ok and the belt really seems to be homemade, as you mentioned.

I have no idea why the belt is homemade, wanna guess anyone?
