    Gene,

Thank you for your follow up. Particularly since my preceding post may have been unintentionally misleading. I did not mean to infer nor imply this current helmet is in fact not questionable. I meant to encompass it in the same category as all helmets claiming to be an example of a Thale B/II helmet that show up every once in a blue moon.

    Gene,

Your observation that the first issue M-56 can be easily converted in a machine shop is spot on; and that having it in one's hands will reveal the conversion, also is spot on.

    Thank you.

Sorry for nechro-posting and my humblest apologies for showing a Fascist photograph, but this thing has appeared on Ebay.de:

The helmets obviously raise questions. And I have no answers . Also I find strange that the men are wearing no shoulder boards; collar tabs or breast eagle. Equipment and uniforms look very new and the officer is wearing elegant rigid shaft boots. So this is definitely not the front line but somewhere deep in Germany and possibly earlier in the war (or before it). The photograph is advertised as showing testing of a Stahlhelm Prototyp. It cannot be the Thale B II, that's for sure. But I will have to admit it is an intriguing photograph

Yes, czech M32 helmets with German police insignia worn by (czech or german?)policemen. Note the sleeve eagles...

            cheers
