    Treue Dienst Zivilverteidigung

    Hello folks!
The medals for "Treue pflichterfüllung in der Zivilverteidigung der DDR" are rather common medals. I have a complete set in my collection.
But there are also a set of medals for "Treue dienst in der Zivilverteidigung". These medals seems to be very expensive, and so far i´ve only seen one bronce-medal out for sale.

Could anyone spread some light over these medals? Why have two different types of medals, when both treue dienst and pflichterfüllung was awarded for numbers of years in service!?

    Thanks!

The Treue Pflichterfüllung medals are for civilian members of the ZV -as far as I can tell - and are very common.

The Treue Dienste medals are for full-time career members of the NVA ZV and are much less common. It is no wonder that they are worth quite a bit of money compared to the standard NVA Treue Dienste ones. What I find odd is that the ZV Verdienstmedaillen are also very common and cheap. If anything, these should be rarer and more expensive than the Treue Dienste. Just can't get my head around that one.

Maybe somebody bought up the entire depot store of them and cornered the market? Like a little diamond trade business.

      Thanks Fahnenflucht, that sounds reasonable!
But that must mean that the ZV had very few full-time career members, since their medals are very rare!? Is this correct?

That would be correct. I am sure that there are some numbers of there in the cyber encyclopedia about just how many full time staff the ZV did have. Cheers, Torsten.
