    My first Table Medal

I've never thought much of collecting Table Medals but after seeing this one at Torstens site I decided to give it a go. I like it! It has a nice weight that pleasantly surprised me when I picked it up.

Just what I need, another area of collecting.

    nice

Congrats, a nicely preserved silvered table medal. Looks so much nicer than the ones with zinc pest eating up their features.

Thanks! And I must agree about the zinc pest!

Your medallion is in good shape. Now that you have got the bug...you need to add some of the stasi medallions to your collection. :-)

I see these alot on Ebay and Hood and also on Torsten's place, I'm wondering..what exactly was table medals used for? Awards or just to flaunt the armed forces, police, and fire services? This one however is very nice..Looks new.

In short, there were different events that these medallions could have been presented. In some instances it could have related to anniversaries, events, celebrations and recognized deeds just to name a few that come to mind.
