    Volksmarine Facebook Collectors Page

I've started a Volksmarine Collectors Page on Facebook. It's a community and a resource for collectors of all things NVA Volksmarine related:

    Thanks for the heads up.
Somebody, after all, had to make a start. What we wrote and said is also believed by many others. They just don't dare express themselves as we did. Quote - Sophie Scholl - White Rose resistance group

Ralph, I thought a FB page might be useful because there are so many more folks interested in collecting Volksmarine then there was a few years ago. After seeing so many great collections displayed here I thought it might be the right time to set up something that VM collectors could use as an additional resource.

I also have lots of random VM related information I've collected over the years that does not make for a good cohesive topic to post here, but would make excellent FB posting as I run across them.

roger that...I hope it works to bring the collecting community more closer.

Much appreciated! We have gotten a very good response to this new FB page and our poll of what VM items folks collect. So far Uniforms are in the lead.

I just added to the VM FB page my recently acquired Wehrdienstausweis to a Volksmarine Stabmatrose in the early 1980s. It's the first I've seen for the VM and the most fully filled out with everything from promotions to awards to clothing records:

You have NO clue how close I came to sniping that lot.

Glad it went to a good home. Even more glad that I get to see the inside

What an amazing piece of VM history.

I was prepared to pay much more for it because finding VM documents like this is like finding hen's teeth. Thankfully the price didn't go into the stratosphere.

What I found most interesting is Page 53 which I've scanned and posted on FB. It shows him earning the Bestenabzeichen der Sowjetarmee which must have been at some Brotherhood in Arms event. I can't quite figure out what the other two entries are on that page. If they are awards or qualifications of some type.

Can any of you identify the obscure VM patch I posted as a Trivia question on the Volksmarine Collectors Facebook page?

It's been a while so I thought I'd mention that we now have a few former Volksmarine members on the Volksmarine Facebook page. Including one who is highlighting his collection of Volksmarine items. So far he has posted an amazing set of Volksmarine plates, steins and flags. At my request he has also posted a couple of photos of himself during his Volksmarine service.

The FB Volksmarine page is at: http://www.facebook.com/Volksmarine
