I'm glad I am not the only one confused by this thread.. Unless one reads the entire thing, very carefully, it seems like it is suggesting that these fantasy pieces are legitimate. I see now that this is not your intent, however, not everyone reads an entire thread, and some of the early wording is very misleading.

    The Quote:
"I THINK they very well would have had a version.." does also seem to me to say, at first glance, that the pieces you created might exist. Are you in fact saying that it would have been cool if they did exist?

As Michael mentioned, he and the other moderators, as well as many of our members do a great job keeping the information on this site clear and academic. The way this thread was introduced, seems to me, to blur the distinctions between fact and fiction. Perhaps the thread could have been started, instead, with a clear question: "Were there any other police patches other than G issued prior to etc...?" If you were intending to ask one.

Don't get me wrong, I think asking questions is what the forum is for. I also think it's a great venue for calling out fantasy pieces. I don't mean to trod on your progressive fact finding and brain-storming, Genosse. I just think you should be careful about how you word some things.

The Shield Shaped Schutzpolizei and ABV Patches came out in 1968 and not 58 and the Betriebsschutz in 1983. Hope this helps a bit. Before I know only the "G" Patch and the Special Education / Branch Insignia of the Seepolizei units to the Naval design.
All the others shown there are Phantasy pieces to me. Please remember how often we discussed such items. SOmebody posted it on his website, so it must be real! That even these people don't know everything, is for sure and even they get fooled. Remember the Breast Hangers we discussed a while ago.

Yeah I remember those badges, I still want one but I don't think Ebay is allowing them no more.

Anyway back on topic, Any idea why they waited so long to make Schupo and other division police shoulder patches when they already had non Staatswappen armbands for their Helfers?

There was a need for the "Helfer" Brassards as they didn't used a Uniform, so there was no real Authority from them (even with) so they needed something to ID them as a Hobby Cop. Sometimes they had to work after some failure in Traffic or so as an educational measure to "help them to be a better Citizen in the socialist community. I had some very early Brassards, issued by the Soviet Administration to ID Police or Fire Service as they weren't allowed to wear the old Uniforms (other than in the West). Also in the early life in the DDR everybody was equal and so the Cops and there was no really need to ID them by the different Patches.

There is no regulation against them, so maybe nobody's posting them in the Moment.

                Paul,

I agree with Michael. The purpose of this forum is to discuss what was actually worn. Not for producing fantasy things of your own imagining. There is no real purpose to that.

                Regards,

                Gordon
