Dudley, I can't agree more with you, I'd love to have a 3rd model, but the prices have just become too much.

There was one with a box, but with a damaged handle on eGun (www.egun.de) that was advertised for 190 Euro which is about $250. And that's for a damaged knife.

Unfortunately these knives are very much in demand by collectors world-wide, not only militaria collectors but knife and gun collectors as well as NVA veterans.

I have just the two examples.
The example with the higher SN I acquired in Berlin in Dec of 89. At the time I knew little to nothing of what I was looking at. These daggers were everywhere, and I acquired my example for DM 20.00. I thought they were Russian, so I bought just the one. I should have bought a couple hundred, and would have had I known they were East German.

The second example with the much lower SN I acquired much later, and at a much greater cost. It came boxed, which with a matching SN.

            Members,

Hey Mike me too ! I bought one for next to nothing !!! Box and matching serial numbers ... Number 988. Had I known and had I not been so interested in speding money on Berliner Kindl... I would have bought more too!!

            Great great thread !

I consider myself lucky to have one in the 900s.

My 1975 Handbuch der Fallschirmjäger shows it worn on top. But I've seen photos where it was worn on the bottom as well.

As long as I get one.

When I had the knife (which I paid $18 FOR), I could not find the uniform...
now I have the uniform...you al know the rest

Such cord cutter knive´s are pretty collectible !

I do own the last NVA version and some polish versions, (Poland Army marked), also the Nóż wieloczynnościowy wz. 1969

BTW, the first NVA cord cutter knife was a product of Poland, (unmarked, so far as I know).
