I bet you've never seen this DDR patch.....

.....and then again you probably have !

I got this from someone in Berlin for free who bought rather alot of East German items after the wall came down and I though it was a unusual patch.

The patch was sewn into the uniforms of troops participating in the making of DDR training films for the armed forces, videos I guess; we had the same in the British army and if there was an Oscar for worst the film the UK Ministry of Defence would get it.

    Kind regards,

    RE: NVA Film Studio Patch

Thanks Marcus for the post and pic.

I'm someone who has never seen, nor heard of this patch. I wonder if it is associated with the former East German Film Studio in Babelsberg (Spelling)? They have a mockup of a Russian Submarine there.

I would think the patch is very rare, and therefore a very nice collectible and find.

I find it interesting the words "Film Studio" appear in English.

Thank you for sharing it. Definitely got my eyes opened a little more today.

The Babelsberg mock up - isn't it for the German U-96, for the movie "U-96"?

        Theordor,

You might be correct. It was a long time ago that I visited there. I thought they had an external only mockup of a German WWII Sub, and a detailed internal mockup of a Russian Sub. I remember going through it, but again, it was a long time ago.
