East German E-Tool Carriers

I know they used the black and brown ones for the straight shovel. And for the folding shovel the grey one made of leather, the strictarn one with grey webbing and the UTV with green webbing.

I had never even heard of brown leather one for the folding shovel until I saw this photo:


So what is this?

I have this folding spade covers in Grey Plastic and black leather, the early Grey plastic ones are cut the same way as the black leather variant.

I have examples of Carriers with repairs that were made using leather of various colours to the belt loops/ fastening tabs.

I recently found a West German eTool. Its really nice condition: not a replica has solid rivets and date stamps. Has most of original paint minus a bit from shovel use. It’s date stamped 1962. I was able to find a brown leather West German surplus cover like new. My question is how do I attach the cover to the eTool? It has the foldable head and pick axe on the opposite side. The cover has one open side with straps and a solid leather side. I’m guessing the pock axe side goes in the open side? But I really have no idea. I now have two tools having acquired a folding US eTool. I like the solid feel of the West German tool and it seems more practical. I used the US eTool in my military days filling sand bags during several disasters and several conflicts. I’m excited to test the West German tool. Any help appreciated.
