As they have more buttons (and outside pockets), I don't believe these jackets are the same as the jacket that started this thread.
    I believe it to be one of these (from Gowenmilitaria);

    http://gowenmilitaria.com/Merchant2/...gory_Code=TOSO

By the way; I also really love these very handsome Gesellschaft-tunics (unlike the 'champagne'-uniforms as used by the LaSK etc), and I'm dying to add one to my collection (I only have 1 so far, bought just before the prices seemed to shoot up). So if someone has one, for sale or trade...

    Very nice tunic Gordon!

Jan, Your are right, I wasn't paying attention to the buttons. I actually have one of these in size k-56 with shoulder boards for a Stabsobermeyer Kustendienst. It's thick material, but very soft, it looks like it would be a comfortable uniform to wear. Other than the size it has no marking in it. I bought it on e-bay about 3 years ago for $25 and it's the only one I've seen since.

I think we agree on the content but I think it's a cumulation of regulations and you interpret them separate.

I disagree on your last translation. It says: "Im Stabsmusikkorps und Musikkorps der Volksmarine entfallen für Militärmusiker bei der Auftrittsuniform, außer für den Dirigenten, die Dienstlaufbahnabzeichen."

        Which means:

In the Stabsmusikkorps and Musikkorps of the Volksmarine, the career patches perish on the special occasion uniforms of Militärmusiker, except for the conductor."

By the way: If you need two golden harps for the shoulder boards just send me a pm, I have got several left and you can have them for the price of the shipping costs.
        Grenzflieger,

You could be correct. That particualr line does not translate very well. I'd like to see what one of our members whos first language is German translate it for us. Torsten are you out there?

        Anmerkungen:
        Regards,

        Gordon

          Gentlemen,

This is a very interesting tunic. Looks like a white tunic identical in design to the blue Voksmarine officers tunic. I could be wrong but the tunics in Kevin's picture look as though they only have buttons done up rather than four. What do you think?

          Regards,

          Gordon

I also still need such a jacket, I recently saw one on ebay.de The price went up somewhere between 150-160 euro. These jackets were worn for going out / furlough purposes by Meister and Fähnriche. Somewhere in the eighties it was also allowed for Offizierschüler to wear these. I remember reading that these jackets could be purchased and were not part of the standard equipment (maybe the musikkorps was a exception). It would explain the rarity.

I also have one in my collection. It is dated 1967. Quite thick smooth fabric indeed ! Quite confortable to wear as ehrentitle stated.
Its is decsribed in Rico's book page 71 : Summer walking-out tunic. Can also be worn by officers ! To be worn with the blue kammgarn trousers. The sleeve rank insignia do not have the blue unterlage fabric !

Very nice and old Jacket, Olivier!

Interesting to hear that officers also wore these. I can't see any sleeve rank insignia? Is there any more info in Rico's book?

Yes you are right : mine does not show the rank stripes...
In Rico's book the tunic has the yelle stripes, the same as those worn on the dark blue tunics except that WITHOUT the blue backing.
