The Volksmarine Gesellschaft tunic I bought at the MAX

    Gentlemen,

I am finally getting around to posting pictures of this tunic I bough a few weeks ago. It is a standard Volksmarien Gesellschaft tunic that was probably never issued. It came with 3rd year students boards and the chance of this type of tunic being worn with this set of boards is very remote.

    Regards,

    Gordon

Especially here in Europe, Sturm bought the Navy Contract and he sent all of them to the States. He had several Crates and even when he had them in Storage, I couldn't buy some of them, they said they're allready counted and sold.

I have two. One a Kapitän zur See uniform that I purchased from a forum member and a second that I bought on E-bay of few years back. That one has Sturm tags and came with Kapitänleutnant shoulder boards sewn on but no rank on the sleeves.

I think he just put the Tags over the Size Tags, and are easily to remove to get it back to it's original Style.

Hi Gordon, nice tunic, however, the chances that it was worn with Offiziersschueler boards are not only remote, they are impossible. Officer students were not issued with the Gesellschaftsuniform. You will need to find some Volksmarine officer boards to put on it. Cheers, Torsten.

                  Torsten,

Yes I will have to find some officers boards for this tunic. I just have to figure out what I want to put on it. I've left the school boards on just so I can keep track of them.

Nico is correct about the tag. The "Made in Germany" tag was sewn to the size tag in the neck and was easily removed. Not like a lot of stuff you see with the "Made in Germany" stamped in ink on the lining.

                  Kevin,

This tunic has slip-on boards so they will be easy to change. I won't add the sleeve tress though.

                  Regards,

                  Gordon

I like these jackets a lot. Would there have been any chance that these VM Gesellschafts-jackets without tress were worn also by Unteroffiziere of the VM Musikkorps?

I think they should have the sleeve Tresse applied, though, shouldn't they?

I love the Gesellschaft jackets, as I love formal attire and suits and it looks just like one. I own a Grenztruppen one in my size, if only I had the dagger that goes on the hanger inside...

I am sure that one day you'll get one .... Cheers, Torsten.

                              grenzflieger,

That is an interesting question and I will have to follow up on it. Since it was done in the land forces perhaps it was done in the Volksmarine as well.
