4th Variant Falli boots

Hi everyone, I wanted to show, what I think are a pair of 4th variant falli boots I received recently. I think these are the 4th pattern as they have the oval on the heal of the boot, where the later square toe boots do not. Some of the other falli collectors out there may help me shed some light on this.

What are also interesting are the laces. The green nylon type lace is defiantly NVA. Also the ends have been burned to make the cord able to fit through the eyelets. The soles have also been replaced at some point, but had little use after replacement.

I couldn’t find any markings though, worn off long ago.

Paul, This pair certainly has most of the characteristics of NVA Paratooper boots. Where did they come from?

Other than the oval on the heal of the boot the other differences are that the toe is more square than the standard boot and there is only one rivet rather than two on the straps that hold the two D-rings.

Hey Paul,

these boots are okay. They are typ number 5 or 6 and were used between 1975 and 1985.



The green nylon type lace is not the original lace. Look like Parachute cord.

The little piece of leather on the heel were used for the fixation of skier.

Kevin and René thanks for the reply. René I thought these were the 4th type. I remember the jump boot list from the old NVA Fallschirmjager forum thread that you wrote. I saved it, but of course nothing will open now. I thought the 5th were like these without the heal oval and the 6th were the last model, used before '89? Of course there may be more types out there though...

Yes, you are right. But i found a pic, showing the 1st-time-jump-boots (1961). So, the other boots are not the 4th type, but the 5th type!!!

These were the originally boots (1st typ) and they were called "KVP-Stiefel" (KVP-boots):



.....Used for parachute training, these boots were changed. They got an other sole (Kreppsohle) and a new buckle over the dorsum of the foot.

I think, that these boots are type 3, but they were also changed. Unchanged, they look like these:



Later, the 4 line of hooks were cut off and round eyelets were used.

Maybe, the hooks were to dangerous during jumping.

The next types of jumping shoes (4th type) only have round eyelets.
