Helmet face plates ??

I,ve just watched a video on youtube which shows i presume grenztruppen checking for explosives or booby traps with a pole , what interested me was the face plates they were wearing that seemed to be attached to the helmet .

The piece of video in question is from 1 minute to 1 minute 26 .

I've never seen that face plate before. It's hard to see, but I think it looks detachable. I would also be interested to find out more about it.

My best guess would be that they would be attached somehow for such
working duties. They seem to go around with them quite casually.

Besides the eyes the plate doesnt seem to have much more features. With a piece
of leather of cloth around it. Maybe some sort of dust/dirt cover?
It does remind me of a welding schield, but it seem more like digging what there
doing.
