? About DDR STASI Abzeichen Soldat Wachregiment Felix Dzierzynski East german badge

In your opinion, is this real?

    Thanks!

Yes, it's probably original and they are not particularly rare. They come in Gold, Silver and Bronze. Looks like he is asking for the Bartel catalog value for this Bronze award which is the high end of prices.

To follow up with what Kevin has said, this pin is a later issued and is the smaller version of the badge. In my upcoming book I will have more data for the collecting community. Also, Bartel's catalog is a good resource.

Larin is a good resource but very expensive. As Kevin and Ralph already confirmed, this badge is real. There are also competition winner neck medals with the same design on it that you could get and I also have had award certificates for these badges and medals in the past, but do not have any to show right now. Cheers, Torsten.

So were the badge ones actually worn on uniforms? If so where were they placed? Did enlisted/nco wear them or officers also? I have been wondering about this for awhile

To my knowledge, the pin back badges were worn only for the duration of the competition event for which they were awarded. They were not permanent uniform decorations, however the recipient was permitted to keep it, along with the document.
There also were much larger examples, worn with a colorful ribbon. The same applied to them as well.
Somewhere on the DDR Forum is a thread that explains all this, and also shows several examples of each of the medals.

                      Here:

                      http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...egiment+Berlin

and here, but without the pictures:

                      http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...egiment+Berlin

It would be nice, to the the pictures, because it is written: "... mine is for the 3rd Year of the event and is dated 1963"

There are some older pieces in the large size in variants with another reverse (complete another text).
