    Black Collar question

I bought this black collar on Ebay, and I'm sure the insignia is wrong-- the collar tabs are Mot-Schützen but the shoulderboards are Panzer. Should I get EM infantry shoulderboards for the tunic? Is there any more I should do?
Also, what kind of footwear/headgear/belt would be appropriate? Was the belt included used with the tunic?

(I still haven't managed to take pics so I'll post the Ebay pics)

    Thank you all in advance!

as the Tankers Collars were used to 1979, you should switch to Motor Rifles Boards.
BTW: this is what I see, looking from Germany on the link.

      The seller is: adigadigdig

      <table class="MsoNormalTable" style="mso-cellspacing:0in;mso-yfti-tbllook:1184;mso-padding-alt:0in 0in 0in 0in" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr style="mso-yfti-irow:0;mso-yfti-firstrow:yes;mso-yfti-lastrow:yes"><td style="padding:0in 0in 0in 0in">East German NVA 1968 Dark Collar Tunic Uniform Group
      </td> </tr> </tbody></table>

East German NVA Uniform Group consisting of a Tunic, Helmet, Trousers, Belt, and Buckle. Tunic is marked m52 (US Size 42) III K (1968) and includes the collar liner and shoulder boards (Pink)for Armor / Panzer. Trousers are marked m52 (US Size 36) II R (1976) and are unused with the manufacturers' tag still attached. Black Leather Belt is marked NVA/90 III/N and includes the Buckle. Steel Combat Helmet is unmarked but is the last-type manufactured. All items are in overall excellent condition. Very nice Cold War uniform lot . . . Free Shipping. Thank You!

It appears to have sold for $79.00.

From what I can surmise, it is a little off in what is being described. To me, this is not a 1968 Dark Collar Tunic ensemble as is being offered. The pants are from a later dark collar era, and the helmet is not of the type worn in 1968, and therefore also not an original part of this grouping. In fairness, trousers do tend to wear out long before the Tunics. Of concern to me, is the observation the seller never showed photos of the size and date markings to support the dates being claimed.

What is true, is that the price paid is well within acceptable range for what is being offered.

Trading out the shoulder boards would probably be the simplest solution.

You were wondering what footwear, headwear, and belt would be worn with this tunic? I'll help you out with that.

Footwear-Black dress shoes for walking out dress, pebbled jack boots for service and parade.
Headwear-As Michael said, the helmet should be an earlier model. The helmet is used for parade and field service uniforms. For service uniform use a wool overseas cap. For walking out dress use the wool NVA EM/NCO visor cap.
Belt-The belt in the picture is for parade and walking out dress. For service and field service, replace it with a web belt.

        Hope this helps.

          Thank you everybody!
I think that clears up most of what I needed to know now. Hopefully I'll be able to put something together without incurring the wrath of Moscow Centre and Viktor's Duty Car by Halloween.
Another question is, what did they wear under the Dienstuniform? Did they wear underwear like with FDA or did they wear the Hemdbluse?

In vain do you hope to escape the wrath of Moscow Centre ... for it will reach you regardless especially if you are assembling this for Halloween
In answer to your other questions:
During the dark collar era, soldiers would not have been issued with a shirt (which would not have been the Hemdbluse in any case as that is reserved for officers and professional soldiers). So underneath this tunic, underwear would have been worn, which practically meant the long armed T-shirt and the jumper at certain times of the year. It is however documented that in the colder months soldiers wore WHATEVER they could. You will notice the cuffs of a chequered civilian shirt poking out of the sleeves of this one:

Your tunic CAN be used for parade and going out but it then needs the cuff bars as in here:
            Parade

            (notice the black leather belt)
A tunic like yours (without cuff bars) would have also been used for barrack service or guard duty, in which case the belt should be normally the grey webbing one, but in the 1960s black leather webbing (and belt) was also used, but somehow that seems to be more documented with the Grenztruppen than with the Mot. Schützen.

Thank you all for these replies!

By the way, what is that on the belt of bild 2.1? Is it a magazine pouch? If so why is it on the left?
