RE: Covers for East German Urkundes

A friend recently acquired a set of Urkundes (East German Award Certificates for NVA Medals). He inquired about the Covers (Binders) in which these Certificates would originaly have been presented. I'm posting his photo of the Urkundes for him, along with with his question. Any help from fellow DDR Collectors would be greatly appreciated.

Question by Gordon Craig: "I won this medal bar and Urkundes a couple of days ago on ebay.de. I'd like to put the Urkundes in their correct holders. Do you know what the font of the holders would look like? What colour would they be? Would they all be the same colour?

I have some Urkundes but have never bought one with the cover. I've looked at the covers on ebay.de and there seems to be a number of variations."

    Regards,

    Gordon

I have one of these covers... 11.5 X 16 cm red, with golden state crest in front and red "ribbon"... would it be one like this you are talking about ?
I can make a scan of it if it corresponds...
    cheers

      Olivier,
did your cover (Jacket) come with an Urkunde inside of it? If so, perhaps you could post the example of the set to which you are making reference, and Gordon will then be able to tell if the cover is going to be acceptable for the Certificates he acquired. He is wanting to place them inside their correct respective jacket covers. Thanks.

I guess what is unclear, is whether the jackets/covers were the same for all military/para-military groups, or did they differ? For example, if the NVA jackets/covers were red, then was this color correct for the police, the boarder guards, the kampfgruppen and for the civil defense? Or did the jacket/covers vary in color, and if so, what colors, why and for whom? I hope this is clear?

            Hi,

Olivyaya's folder is the incorrect type for the abpve medals, his is a specific folder.

This would be the relevant type for the 70's & 1980's of these awards.

            Kind regards,

            Marcus
