    VoPo's in the US?

Was the Sidewalk part of the Embassy's territory or not?
For sure the guy is a Stasi from the "Botschaftsdienst".
We discussed this Style of Uniform a while ago.

It looks like the US Embassy in East Berlin. A VOPO was posted there 24/7 to monitor and deter East German citizens from entering the embassy. I remember that we were briefed on the location and telephone number of this embassy at Checkpoint Charlie before travelling to East Berlin, just in case we needed assistance.

Advertising for their next holiday Trip to the US.
Mostly Cultural and Landscape Pics of the US. Alo adverts for Concerts and so on of Americans in the DDR. So everything to show the east germans the life in the US.

Huhh, that's hard. Marlboro advertising in the DDR and they had to smoke Karo.

I was watching a documentary on YouTube recently and it showed a group of DDR folk trying to enter the US embassy. They were intercepted and lead away by plain clothes Stasi right at the door.

The embassy was under full-time TV surveillance from all angles from rooms in the surrounding buildings and anyone that showed any sort of interest in it while passing would have been investigated.

So I guess the path did not belong to the US.

I'll put the link to that video up soon...

Just put those links up here.

The people who tried to gain entry was actually a family and two of them even managed to get in. The "policeman" and a plain clothes Stasi blocked the others.
