Since he was the highest decorated person in the DDR, I assume that at least some of his orders and awards have been entered into the Wehrpass? Cheers, Torsten.

I truly hope he did not get any awards from the fascist reich

I didn't know EM was someone who should be held in high esteem... a quick primer:

I did read that right after I posted, he sounded like quite the character. I liked the little joke at the end of the page, that about sums it all up.

I'd like to know under what circumstances this would have been issued-- didn't he flee Germany before the Nazis took over and not return until 1945? How would he have a Nazi german Wehrpass, at least a real one, in his real name?

Hello all - This is not the Erich Mielke related to the STASI who was born 28 December 1907.
Somebody, after all, had to make a start. What we wrote and said is also believed by many others. They just don't dare express themselves as we did. Quote - Sophie Scholl - White Rose resistance group

                    Ralph, you're right.
                    It's a friends Dad.
He was a Tailor in Pankow and made it to the west in the 50's. After the War he was working for the Russians but as he wasn't a SED Member, he had a lot of problems. His Son told me the Story how they brought nearly the complete household via S-Bahn to the West as they didn't had the chance to cross the Border by Truck. He also told me how strange it allway's was when he went to Western Germany via Highway Transit. The East Germans mostly asked if he is related to their Mielke, so he mostly said that the only thing what he can tell is that his Dads Name is Erich, but he isn't authorised to say more.
