    John,

Glad to hear (and see) you enjoyed your trip to Berlin. Also see you discovered what is my favorite German Bier - Berliner Kindl.
The counterpart to Berliner Kindl during cold war times was Schultheiss.

Thanks for your follow up posts letting us know you had a great time

I like the way your table looks there Mike ... will you be going to Berlin anytime soon? I will be there again at the end of May, but only for one day and night before moving on to see my brother for his big birthday party ... Cheers, Torsten.

PS: our local Aldi store appears to have dropped selling Wernesgruener now in favour of Berliner Kindl ... nothing wrong with Berliner Kindl but I prefer Wernesgruener to be honest ....

Hi John, funny old world ... I used to live in that blue building in 1990-91. I had a one room flat on the top right from where you were looking at it when you took the photograph. Most of the top floor was reserved for lecturers at the TU Magdeburg (my next door neighbour was a US guy who was at the TU as a guest lecturer). The building was already a wreck then and I am really surprised that it is still standing to this day ... Cheers, Torsten.

            Off topic: Sorry John.

            Torsten,

Will be in Germany (Berlin) sometime in 2012. Perhaps, with enough pre-planning, we might just be able to finally meet.

Hi Mike, I have no plans for 2012 as yet, I am afraid .... will be in the US for two weeks at the end of this month, but will not be coming anywhere near Tx I am afraid. Cheers, Torsten.
