Erich Honnecker items sold by daughter Sonja

I was going to post this on the eBay joke thread given the sellers feedback rating of 72%. It's a purported VVO in Gold to EH. It's a later version, not gold stamped. It's even Buy it Now for 895 Euros. Suspect to me for all the usual reasons, so it's a joke to me.

However, the letter from the supposed orginal buyer is an interesting historical snapshot of what EH's daugher Sonja had of her fathers' and supposedly sold in 1990.

Does anyone know how many and when EH was awarded his VVOs and the gold ones?

        Hi Jeff

The seller is the guy who bought all the stuff in 1990 , according to the document .
However , this document can also be a fake , who knows ?
It's the same thing as the so called ''Gutachten'' that a medal is original , provided by well known german medal dealers for fake medals , like a former big dealer from Hamburg , who stopped with his acitivities after his name came up on a cd with people who committed tax fraud .

Am I missing something? I don't see where the certificate of this award being awarded to EH is being offered with the Order? If I'm correct, and its not, then to me this is just another gold Fatherland Order, and is grossly overpriced.

Agree, A copy of an old Letter doesn't makes it a better Award. It just shows, that somebody bought some stuff 20 Years ago.
The only thing what this letter tells me, is how much the family history is worth to her. I never would sell my families Medals.

Am I right or the letter is dated the 11th of January 1990?
Is it plausible to think that EH's daughter would have started selling his things off, with her father alive and the DDR still in existence? The answer I would give is... NO!
So presumably the letter is the joke ...

I thought his military memorabilia was sold basically all at one time in a major auction, most of which was purchased by one individual.

Does anyone know when that occurred and by whom the stuff was acquired?
Should be a record of the event somewhere?

The next is a VEB Stamp on a GMBH Paper. I allway's thought that the DDR didn't had GMBH's what is like a ltd. or so. Something let my Alarm Bells ring. Also when you investigate about the auctionhouse, not a single entry to find in Leipzig.

                    what a laugh..

first I tought it comes with the Award Doc..but its just any VVO Award with a piece of paper that could easily be faked..

just a quick example of the same doc... it took me only 5minutes with Windows Paint...give me an hour and photoshop software and you can have the document with your name in it and it will exactly look the same.....print it and copy it a few times to have it look even better..

                        Hi Michael

There was a big auktion in the region of Hamburg on 24-3-1995 , they sold a lot of original Honecker items there , like all the handwritten papers from his time in Moabit prison , personal stuff like watches , cloths etc. and some medals from margot Honecker , but I don't see any medals from him in the catalog .
In the same auction they sold material from the Palast der Republik and a smaller version from the big Thälmann monument in Berlin .
I think this smaller version is the one that now belongs to the Wende museum , they also have his prison papers , so they must have bought a lot at the auction .
I wish I could have bought something at that time, but I started collecting DDR stuff 10 years after the auction

Here a few photos from the catalog , prices still in Deutsch Mark ( DM )

                        His tv in prison

                        His watches

The smaller version of the Thälmann monument

                        Something for Ralph......

Some other stuff from the same auction

                        ''Deutsche Friedensmedaille'' from Margot Honecker

The correct spelling is "Honecker". Just in case someone missed that.

I did some internet investigative exploration and can only find documentation to support that his automobile collection, gun collection inclusive of hunting knives, and a winter hat were auctioned; as well as that already mentioned by Johan, which did include a very nice personalized sword and military dagger.

                              No medals.
