    Michael,

I am curious as how you came to your conclusions?

The various versions of Friendship Stars (front and back) are catalogued in Frank Bartel's Band 1 book.

This particular star is referenced in his book as version 11a.

Hello all - I have revived this interesting thread for those who may not have seen it.

            Ralph,

Thanks for bringing this thread to life again. Many of the new East German collectors won't have a chance to add one of these stars to their collection. Here are pictures of my cased star.

            Regards,

            Gordon

Gordon, that is a real beauty! And a real treasure indeed. I assume there was a time when even this award was overlooked and wasn't as valued as it is today?

                Joel,

They were never cheap, or should I say, inexpensive. They were much more available when I bought than they are today.

                Regards,

Thanks Gordon, and you are welcome.

Joel, I will say save up and be ready for the chance when a fellow collector decides to sell theirs in the future.
