Has anybody seen one of these?

I found a box of these reflector gadgets at the local surplus store today:

Has anyone seen one of these? I assume it was warn from the belt for night time road side work or something. I know that it is East German because the hook is the same type used on the webbed Y-straps. Does anyone know specifically what it was used for and who used it?
    Many thanks, Kevin.

    Genosse,

The Reflectors are worn by chosen men in a column of men in regard to their position in the formation, there are three types ( I have recovered) .
    White.
    Red.
An Arm band with three Reflectors in a row, white and two red if I remember correctly.

I have the Red and White Triangle Reflectors. They're called Marschsicherung. While on the March on Streets in the Night, the first Soldier wears the white on front and the last the red on the back for some extra safety so that oncoming vehicles know what's going on. The Strap-Type Reflector Set I know in 2 Versions: As an Armband and extra Attachment for shoulder Straps for wear on Regulators/Traffic MP Equipment.
