Some bits and bobs are sometimes showed on the german TV Channel: "RBB" thats where I noticed this Documentry 3 years ago..
....if you really want to see how DDR living was between 1960 to 90 (and further to 99) THIS IS THE BEST DOCUMENTARY OUTHERE!!
"DIE KINDER VON GOLZOW"
its a DEFA long term documentry where many people from this village were filmed, beginning from their 1 class in school in the 60´s til far in the 90s.
the docu is in itself already very interesting to watch how they life went on and they grew up
but its also for me as former east german, like a Timemachine backt to the good old childhood times! I LOVED MY TIME AS A CHILD IN THE DDR!! I didnt experience teenage/adult life in the DDR so I can mostly tell only good things for my behalf...and love this Documentry very much.
It reflects 100% and very good how Everyday Life was in this State back then.
Also the "Wendezeit" part of this Docu is very interesting to watch.
There are a few DVD on ebay but the complete 18DVD Box is a little pricey for me rightnow...if maybe someone already has a few DVDs of this Docu..I would very much like a copy.
this is a Trailer I found on youtube

I can really recommend to watch this Documentary..even if you not understand german
