The clock is ticking... there are only five weeks to go until the annual military vehicles/living history extravaganza ...
Things are already being prepared. I stocked up on gas canister for the cookers. Klaus has nearly got a complete set of side windows now :

The rectangular eyelets at the bottom were difficult to source, but through my membership of the German speaking Gaz 69 forum I managed to obtain original DDR ones ... The front seats are being redone as I type...
My contacts on the other side of the Pennines tell me that little Alex, i.e Genosse James's Trabikübel, is going to come down to Beltring, with our political agitator, Genosse Feldwebel Lewis, sharpening the speeches to impress the assembled masses...
So wheels are in motion... and I CANNOT WAIT ...
What are plans for the southern commands , in so far as they can be revealed and have already received the clearing of Moscow Centre?

Having advertised this show, I feel the duty to say a word of warning... This is absolutely fabulous if you are into military vehicles and you like the living history side of the NVA.
Shopping-wise, If you are after some high end DDR collectible, you may wish to speak with David_H who came last year and I think left empty-handed... Ever since a couple of Dutch dealers stopped coming, what one finds of the DDR is mostly ordinary stuff that can also be got more reliably on Ebay. There is the occasional low-end gem but it has to be looked for... I did get good things at Beltring in the past, but in those days there was SOOOO much I needed...
So do not plan a trip on the expectation of finding a selection of colour piped hats to choose from. The occasional dark collar tunic that crops up has been nazified and bears a stupid price tag on account of the despicable symbol on its reproduction insignia ...
On the other hand, if you are keen to wast... -I mean- invest your hard-earned cash in allegedly Third Reich collectibles... Beltring is the place to go. A few years back there was even a trolley with a little label saying that it belonged to a concentration camp... if you are THAT gullible...

Are you meaning the poor T55 that has to wear a Gitlerite Goon Skin ?, one day I plan to convert a MK6 into a T55, posting the cutting with a Gas torch on U tube...

It is a very good Battle Technology Prop on the UK circuit.

Of course it is! It is PHENOMENALLY slow , thereby creating an obstruction to traffic and a danger to all and sundry who are foolish enough to come too close to it... but as for being legal it is FULLY legal

....and on the RARE occasions when it works as intended ... it is absolutely lovely ... on the other hand there are days when a can of petrol and some matches feature prominently in my mind
