Visor without date code

Hello Gentlemen,

I have bought a Grenztruppen officers visor and I can't find a date code inside I compared it with the other (50) visors I got and they all got a date code inside. Maybe this one was made on newyears eve? Looking at the kokarde and the label it must be from the eighties. Strange...

That style of sweatshield was adopted in 1982, so your hat could be anywhere from 1982 to 1990.

The lack of a date code is most unusual - not sure I've seen it before. A production error, perhaps?

Thanks Rev, I didn't knew when the new sweatshield was introduced. I knew it was in the eighties but not exactly when. I found it also most unusual to find a visor without a date code because I had never seen one before. I reckon it is a production failure but that should also be strange because all the other markings (size, hersteller code etc) are on the sweatshield. One would say that all the markings normally would be applied at the same time.
