I should have been more specific, these are on the numrich gun parts web site, search "east german" They actually have two other variations as well but the description doesn't really say what they are for though they do look East German in nature. Thanks Luke.

I have no idea what they are. Never seen those before. Cheers, Torsten.

They are East German for sure. I ordered one of each, just wanted to see what they were. I still have no idea. They are for carrying something for sure, but what???

I'm going to order one of everyone too, perhaps one of us will figure it out.

Maybe they are for some sort of radio set?

              Genossen Pauly und eastgermansks,

The Research Bureau you are both to have joint Chairmanship of is anticipated to make Seven League Booted advances in regard to this Newly Declassified item of DDR State Property...

                First Carrier pics

I took some quick photos before I head out for the week for a little Christmas vacation.

Here is the first one. It is in good shape, and looks to of had very little use. Its about the size of a normal raindrop pattern backpack. There are no dates or stamps. It also has some interesting loops and attachments...but for what?

                And the back...or front?

                  Carrier #2 pics

Here is the second one. Somewhat the same construction, but a little different. As you can see it has very long straps. This one again shows light use, but there is a little rust on the buckles.

                  a little closer look...

                  and the back...

                  Ok, well any ideas??

Are they actually bags or padding? It might had been used for heavy gear transport or maybe for the Fallschirmjägers?

I think you will find they are indeed padding for carrying something large and unforgiving (and I don't mean KGB Generals ).

Perhaps for man packing things like mortar ammo/baseplate or B10 rounds or ???

These are very similar to the straps and padding for the radio sets...

Luke, no when I ordered these two, the other two types were not listed on the site. I may order them too, just to see what they look like.

But yes they are heavily padded. Definitely for carrying something heavy.
