    Early NVA helmet Help

I'm not familiar with these helmets, but thought I'd like to have a good example to go with my collection. Any comments appreciated!
Shell is B II marked and 60 size stamped. Can someone date this helmet, is it indeed an early one. What would be a fair price for one like this?

                  Hallo Genosse,
On the helmet shell itself, 60 is the year of production (1960) and II is the shell size

Not too sure what the B is for though but I'm sure someone else will make up for my lack of polotical perception

Genosse Rebaran11 has given you the correct intelligence. I would revisit the markings and question whether the "B" might not be interpreted as an "8" or "9" (= August or September 1960). These markings are OFTEN barely legible and can be misinterpreted very easily.
Also this is one of those early helmets still with the fixed non-adjustable liner, there should therefore be a size stamped on the liner. At a guess it could be 57 or 58, possibly even 59 but it is unlikely to be any lower or higher than these three numbers.

Thanks for the information gentleman. What does this configuration generally run price wise?

                        $75 - $125 price range

the early M56 helmets in original condition are not very common, because most were refitted with new style liners

I actually have a couple of these. Both are 54, if i remember correctly. I was amazed at the small size, but they both ahve a grease pecil/china marker 54 on the face of the shell. When I got them, i never really thought about the transition periods for these helmets. I now know that I've got one with the extrerior rivets, but the newer style adjustable liner with the horrible marshmallow type padding. It's my understanding that the old liners were removed and the rivets were left in place...presumably because it was easier than filling the holes they would have left behind. I'll take some pics this weekend and post them.
I guess i could part with my extra...?
