Quote: "Another great addition to my growing collection.A nice LSK hauptman tunic. Can someone tell me waht the Grey/Red ribbons are for??Thank you."

They signify the owner of the ribbon bar participated in several (at least 3) combined arms Maneuver "War Game" Exercises with other Warsaw Pact armies.

The ribbons represent award and presentation of 1st, 2nd and 3rd Class DDR NVA Brotherhood medals.

    Hope this helps. (?).

Here is a link to a related thread that might serve to better explain the ribbons about which you made inquiry .....

Go to Post #4 and at the bottom right will appear the DDR NVA Brotherhood ribbons with their respective medals.

There is more specific information about them on Post #9.

The Medaille der Waffenbrüderschaft (The Medal of the brotherhood of arms) did not necessarily have to be given for participation in a Warsaw Pact exercise. It was for any activity that strengthened relations between the fraternal socialist armies of the Warsaw Pact and contributed to the development of joint cooperation.
