    Coupling holsters with belts

This may be a silly question, but I'm trying to match a correct belt to a correct holster for my East German collection. Anything out of the ordinary here?

Other than the fact that your black leather belt is upside down (to be dealt with by moscow centre at a later date...) I see no apparent inaccuracies. The UTV belt with UTV holster, brown with brown, black with black, and white with white. Looks good to me.

Ah, the grey canvas belts? lol, I have 10 of them. Were the brown holsters specifically used with them?

          Genosse,
The Grey belt is a Felddeinstuniform item, if worn by an Officer who bears a Side Arm then a Brown Holster can be used.

..., if worn by a short term NCO who bears a side arm a brown holster was(!) used.

And before someone asks - no, I do not have photographic evidence of doing so when I was on guard duty.

Interesting topic! I'm no expert on Pistolentaschen ..

I can't remember that I've seen a black hoster within the NVA... Does anyone know who were allowed to wear them? Or would it be a VOPO item?

There should be also should be a difference between Russian and NVA Makarov hosters. Can anyone tell me the difference? Were all the NVA hosters NVA stamped? I got one brown holster but I can't put my finger on it's authenticity..

On your white holster and belt, are they marked NVA or Mdi if you are going for accuracy they should be marked the same.

There are SEVERAL differences. The colour finish on the NVA one is much redder and it is a "pure" medium brown, whilst the Soviet brown takes a somewhat "rotten and impure" shade... The Soviet one also has two loops on the front for fitting the cleaning instrument. The shape of the flap covering the butt is also squarer on the Soviet one.

Genosse Dag ( he who watches ), we need no other Evidence, your word is Bond.

For us lesser Genossen, The Historical Document " Auf Ketten und Rädern" ISBN 3-327-00525-7 page 124 shows a Fallschirmjäger on Gate Duty wearing a Side Arm in a Brown Holster.

Matteo, thanks for your explanation! I need two holsters for my grenzflieger en grenztruppen officers uniform and now know what to look for.
