Early NVA Schiffchen 1956-61?

I'm not familar with early caps. This one is not my Schiffchen, but I would like to hear some thoughts about it. Is this one a early Schiffchen worn until 1961?

Looks good to me ! But obviously my experience of such early items is limited and there are a few things one would want to check in person (stitching of the Kokarde etc.) But I would say that it is good.

A collector friend won this cap in an auction yesterday. Because he already owns such a cap, he offered it to me for a trade.

That is the reason for asking some collector thoughts!

from the pictures it looks like it could be from 1956 to 61. take the hat outside in natural sunlight at see if you can make out any markings inside the liner.

The cap looks good to me, I know that the earlier caps had sides that werent sewn down. The cockade looks good from the pics too. Thanks for showing this, the old stuff is very cool!
