I think the helmet has been messed around with and nothing is original to it, including the liner and chin strap.

I would say that they never used State Seal Decals on these Helmets. It's only to "Value up" Helmets for new collectors who believe everything what the seller tells.
Years ago we had an egyptian dealer on the fleamarket who told every **** what others told him an got angry when you told him the truth. I had it very often with US Stuff. Igrew uop with the Army in Berlin but every east german collector who started 2 years earlier was more right then me, who lived next to the Barracks for 25 Years.

            Sorry Hank,

I assumed all knew the decal was wrong. These were never ever used on East German helmets.

The primary two decals used were the Polizei Star with Tri-color Shield and then later the Staatswappen; and the NVA Tri-color Shield.

There also was a medic decal and a decal used early on for Regulators.

This helmet as Nico observed and remarked, has been reworked, possibly to lure potential buyers into paying more for something it is not.
