other countries that wore EG rain camo?

anybody know what other country besides East Germany wore the rain pattern camo? was it ever used in the Middle East or by Turkey or other?

Well, I'm sure my fellow genossen here will ellaborate more on this as I am not an expert, but I do know that Czechoslovakia also used the 'strichtarn' or rain pattern camo. Though the pattern was slightly lighter in color, and the 'rain drops' if you will, or brown on a light drab backround, were a tad closer together, it was close to that of the NVA design, But in the longrun, easy to tell the difference, if you know what to look for.

i wonder post reunification if the old NVA uniforms were not employed elsewhere as they were cheap and plentiful. Other nations such as those you mentioned, may have bought some, but I dought they were used much, if at all.

I believe the Poles used a verstion too. Try http://www.kamouflage.net/thumbnail.php?rid=3 which gives you by country camo. The link I've provided goes directly to the European section which you can search through thumbnails of camo by country.

It was used in Southern African Revolutionary / Terrorists Armies ( from whatever is your point of view) in the bad old days, the South Africans even made a copy for their Special Forces.

CLSA "Needles" as they called it or Vzor 65 as it should be called, is better made than DDR " one stripe, no stripe" it also has several minor variants in colour, shade and the back ground colours to it.

Viktor is 100% correct, several of the terrorist groups in Southern Africa used the EG rain pattern uniforms. Specefically it was used by Angola (MPLA), Mozambique (FRELIMO), Guinea (PAIGC), SWAPO of Namibia, and several other groups. It was also used by Uzbekistan in the 1990's. I have one of the Uzbeki uniforms in the rain pattern and I can tell you it is 100% EG surplus...with a few modifications.

If you'd like to see some pics of the Uzbeki set or my EG rain pattern set used in Angola or Namibia, feel free to drop me your email address and I'll send some pics your way.

p.s. I also forgot it was used by the Nicaraguan Armed Forces during the 1980's. Yes....I do have photographic evidence of it being used!
