These guys mainly make WWII repros, but they might just crazily send messages to every German militaria seller they find in hope to grab every chance , very likely they don't even know that this patch is East German, coz they surely wouldn't make a repro of this as there's almost no market demand for it.

          Ian,

This patch was worn by units of the Trapo. The word "Abschnittsbevollmachtiger" translates as something like "precinct captain".

The Vopo had a similar patch done in green.

          Frank,

I agree with you. These guys are probably fishing for business. I'm sure they'd reproduce it for you if you contracted them - but the current value & availabilty of these patches would hardly make economic sense. Much more profitable to make phony 3rd Reich insignia.

Interestingly, I HAVE heard that the Chinese are making fake NVA uniforms, but I have no further details as to what kinds of uniforms they might be making or where they are to be found. I have never seen any photos of the purported fakes so I have no idea how accurate they are - or even if they exist at all. I would love to have verification of this rumor, one way or the other.

            Rick,
I haven't seen or heard of any Chinese made NVA fakes, nor have my comrades, and I have never seen repro NVA items being advertised by the major Chinese WWII repro makers. There have been some Sturm altered short jackets being sold here, that's all.
I heard of the rumor too, the source was Gowen if I remember correctly.

I have heard about the rumor of china reproed DDR items too from gowen,if i remember right,it was published on the gowen website. However,i have neither seen any item being shown as a repro, nor heard of any items are being reproed in China.
Besides the rumor,i have seen or heard some other reproed DDR militaria, the Blumentarn Kampfznzug, and winter strichtarn FDA jacket and para vest.
Also once i heard about Czech reproed DDR black collar tunics by using original material.Above all,the Blumentarn Kampfanzug and winter strichtarn FDA jacket are the only actual repro items i have seen.

I thought the rumor if I recall correctly, wasn't about uniforms, but about Visor Hats.
