Reminds me of Soviet Red Army tunic

This early East German SfS uniform reminded me of Soviet Red Army uniform worn during WW2 and post-war. The East German general public hated the SfS and KVP Soviet-style tunics so much! So the DDR government had a major uniform makeover in 1956 after the East German public didnt approve the early DDR Soviet-style tunics in mid-1950s. They reverted back to old Wehrmacht-style uniforms with Soviet okay. I personally handled the early 1950s DDR SfS officer tunic in my friend's collection. By the way, Nice early DDR SfS tunic!!!!!!!!!!!!

          Stefas -

What a wonderful catch! The blue breeches are especially hard to get.

Is the tunic made of gabardine material? I have an SfS service tunic like this, but it is made of what I think is a wool/cotton blend. I call it a "summer weight" tunic.

              Stefas,

Here is a shot of my tunic with visor hat (the two did not come together, unfortunately). But I don't have the breeches!

When I get a chance I'll post a close up of the material of this tunic compared to typical gabardine.
